This track was released for free on the Stones Throw new blogs a few months ago, entitled “Ladies”. Give it a go.
‘Notha one from the compilation CDs. Guitar at the beginning has all kinds of potential. Great track. Some nice violins and stuff, overall feel definitely sounds like its influenced by the James Brown and his JBs.
Don’t forget about Nina… or that brass section!
Sampled this one for a track or two. Came off a compilation CD. Vinyl is probably rare as hell. That snare is unstoppable!
First track posting! When Tower Records when out of business, I went down and swooped up a bunch of funk compilation CDs for cheap. The one I found this track on was called “Superfunk 4″. Enjoy:

As we get the ball rolling, we will be posting audio and video of some of our favorite/long-lost/rare funk, soul and r&b tracks from yesteryears for download (when possible). Also, we will occasionally feature new tracks that have an obvious influence from this era, including rock, hip hop, and the neo- genres.
